PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis)
What is PrEP?
Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is a pill you can take to protect yourself from HIV. It can be taken by an HIV negative person to reduce the risk of getting HIV from sexual exposure when taken as prescribed.
PrEP, available through the NHS in England, is a single tablet containing Tenofovir Disoproxil and Emtricitabine. These drugs have been used for many years as part of treatment for people living with HIV.
