Each STI has a different amount of time you have to wait before the STI can be detected by a test.

Chlamydia and gonorrhoea can take over 2 weeks to show up; syphilis 12 weeks; and HIV 4-12 weeks.

There’s no need to book a face-to-face appointment to discuss this first as we can talk to you about your options over the phone, tell you the pros and cons and take consent. We’ll then book you an appointment to come in for the procedure if you decide it is right for you.

No. All the services at Leeds Sexual Health are free.
